Comment on Alan Chambers

"I have been asked by several people to comment on Alan Chambers', president of Exodus International, recent announcement of the closing of the ministry and his apology to homosexuals who have been hurt by the ministry.

I've read Chambers' apology in its entirety (http://exodusinternational.org/2013/06/i-am-sorry/) without reading any commentaries written by others.

Time precludes me from writing a detailed evaluation. In a matter of hours I will board a plane to London (UK) for a two-week mission trip to that great and desperately, spiritually dark city.

In brief, here's what stood out to me.

1. Chambers seems very sincere in his apology.

2. Chambers made his decision, in part, as a result of conversation with and counsel received by two unsaved women who applaud the sin of homosexuality.

3. Chambers is influenced by and comforted in his decision to apologize by the life of a Roman Catholic Archbishop who heads the Sabeel Ecumenical Liberation Theology Center.

4. Chambers apology exemplifies a "free grace" (no repentance necessary) view of salvation (for more regarding "free grace" theology - http://www.gotquestions.org/free-grace.html).

5. Exodus International is an example of what happens when the Gospel is secondary in ministry.

6. Exodus International is an example of the dangers of para-church ministry--when leaders, leadership models, and mission statements are determined by men and women who seek to do ministry apart from and out from under the leadership and authority of the local church.

Dark Days

Sighs...We are really in a dark day. The church SHOULD NEVER have to beg it's members to come to fellowship...let alone BEG THE WORLD TO COME IN WITH TRINKETS, GAMES, AND MUSIC! You are not a WHORE you are the BRIDE OF CHRIST!

Those who are His will come. 

Don't sell your self like an immodest women. Begging your idols to come play with you with promises of candy, games and fun. This needs to stop. God isn't in heaven begging people to come worship Him as if He needed us. He doesn't entice us to Him by promising fun and prosperity and other fulfillment of our fleshy desires. He tells us we will be satisfied, and we are to count the costs. Woe this generation that group up on youth church and seeker-sensitive propaganda...

Jesus is the Attraction! Jesus is the food!

Jesus is the Life. Hungry people will gather and feed on Christ in communion with each other. To advertise and promote church with trifles is an insult. Should the children of the God of glory be tempted with food, games, and fun?

The Immodest Church

God stands atop the world commanding to His people: "Be Holy, for I am Holy!" The essence and sheer meaning of holiness is separateness. Yet we fight hard to conform to this world. We make provisions for our flesh, we make provisions for the ungodly, we make provisions for the church, all in an effort to be relevant to the world. We read books, and we study the world's methods on how to draw a crowd. It's not hard for us to be a harlot.
